If they redid this race today, it would be an easy victory for public transport as the shinkansen network has been extended to Kanazawa.

In 2014 Hokuriku Shinkansen line coming from Tokyo was extended to Kanazawa – the starting point of this challenge. So there is no more need to make that huge detour to the west. Since then there is no chance that the car will win in the same challenge. Eventually, bullet trains took their revenge.
