BMW's compact X1 crossover packs big luxury in a small package

Long in name but short in stature, the 2016 BMW X1 xDrive28i balances a spacious interior with a compact body, and sporty performance with best-in-class efficiency.

45k for an X1??? I'll take the next gen X3 instead…

impressive facelift. Though i still dont understand why we are 2016 and the xdrive package STLL has those cheap looking plastic/alumium fake bumpers. I know its made to not scratch the real car but damn they look bad.

Great camera and drone work on this video

I think this was one of best videos from Roadshow so far. Good job.
Im reading that BMW has reached record sales, but I hope they will also be smacked on fingers for doing stupid cost savings things and losing this opportunity to give more bang for buck. Like those seats, bigger screen, and I would even hope to have led/oled dash. Overall "feel" of the video is like BMW has made many compromises towards market and car which for premium is not really good. Or, what do you think?

Cnet on cars with Brian by far was better than "The Road Show". Let's fire the people that came up with this idea and bring the people back that had Cnet on cars going. I know suck when I see suck and so far The Roadshow SUCKS.

That intro made feel i am in skellige 😮

I don't know how is your Italian guys out there, but you should watch the Quattroruote review to see what's what. In other words they (BMW) ruined a perfect X1. Now it's just another Hyundai whatever.

What do you guys think, X1 or a 3 Sportwagon?

What is the music at 4:03?

Easily the best-looking versus Audi or Mercedes-Benz. Probably more fun to drive, as well, but no Apple CarPlay? Come on, BMW.

I'm waiting for the new 2017-18 completely re-design X3! X1 just to small!

Anyone else realise he compares the X1 to the saloon MB CLA250 at 3:26? 😛 But otherwise great review 🙂

the thing is its not very luxurious if you ask me that interior is in need of a update really the only thing that makes it luxury is the badge BMW that don't cut it anymore in this time and day cause all car makers have improved there cars inside and out its hard out in them streets hahaha you can get more for less now on the real unless you one that just have to have the name i would look elsewhere

Great video. It's lovely to finally see a person of color hosting a car show.

Nice looking video but your review of the car still needs work. I heard a lot about what the car doesn't have and not enough about what the car does have. For example you failed to talk about it's various "optional" packages like the Cold Weather Package which brings a heated steering wheel and front seats for those cold winter months or the Premium Package which includes the Panoramic Moonroof or the Technology Package that lets you enjoy a 8.8" display not that 6.5" screen you show there. Next time please show case the fully loaded model, thanks!

I like it too, would more if it had a diesel!

The outdoor photography was beautiful, but inside the vehicle photography was some of the worst I've ever seen on this channel. It is also a huge failure not to list the music used or the location where filmed. It does not look like anyone from CNET reads these comments so I'm probably wasting my time writing this. Roadshow is lazy.

what exterior colour is this ?
Brother Nature
voice sounds great

That steering wheel, though…

just test drove the sDrive28i version of this and the experience was somewhat subpar.. i'd expect more from a luxury brand (little things like – back-up camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert etc) which even the lower class vehicles comes standard these days, they seem to know how to nickel and dime you for the small stuff, but overall, I was not impressed.

Very nice camera work. Just got a basic sDrive28i with moonroof for commuting at $29K. The car can be quite affordable if you don’t take those ridiculously expensive options.
