This was actually an airport fire engine. Which would be sent rolling down the runway before the arrival of an aircraft that had declared an emergency, to provide the initial response if needed before the big 8-wheelers with the water cannons arrived. Hence the foam generator, to deal with aviation fuel fires.

Needless to say, this was probably deployed at a regional airport that handled nothing bigger than 737s, and which more usually handled turboprop traffic. You would not deploy this at Heathrow to deal with an A380 incident. 🙂

It's an airport fire truck, ENGINE (UK.) It doesn't need loads of speed to set next to the runway.

To make their cars reliable, Land Rover should put in the 5.7 liter V8 found in the Toyota Tundra.

FYI Americans, this is a specialist fire ENGINE, (not truck – engine) we don't have these going to normal house fire's. Probably came from a small airport, or large industrial site like a refinery.

i took a look at a usps mail van today. they're all stainless steel and manufactured by northrop grumman WTF. you'd freak out man, it's so bizarre. the throttle cable is exposed to the cabin! the wheel base is tiiiiny and the front wheels are narrow af so when you take them above 50 they wildly buffet back and forth.

I'm a Brit and I've never seen one of these. I guess it probably comes from a small airport (not one that has jets landing).

Doug the typical millenial that would make a video to disrespect emergecy personal. Um Doug? do you realize these are well maintained well past any typical civilian vehicle if it was a Rover or not? And you should not disrespect the men and woman that might protect your ass someday. In the comments some FF'S were pissed and don't blame them. Hope some day when you crash your plane the FF will spray that Foam straigh up your Ahole)) All respect to all Firefighters and all emergency personal that live and would live and die for us. (Maybe even save Doug with his foamy ass too) 🙄

The 'E' at the beginning of the number plate denotes the year, circa 1987. These are usually ONLY used at airfields so hills are not exactly a problem 😉 and the engine is the fantastic, versatile Rover V8 , a derivative from the old Buick 215 from the early 60's.
This engine is so versatile it powers all sorts of vehicles, from Land Rovers & Range Rovers to sports cars to ambulances to Army gun tractors.
Yes, I'm an Englishman but I just don't understand why my fellow countrymen are so damn touchy! Lighten up and laugh at yourselves once in a while!
Oh, and for the record, around 18 months ago I bought a 1989 Range Rover and to date it's been brilliant! A niggle or two here and there but nothing insurmountable to put right and is a truly excellent car to drive.
