Also the doors come off! I got pulled over in my when I was 20 because I had the windshield down and the doors off. Apparently that’s a no no. The smiles per mile was huge though, loved mine.

Lower geared for off road conditions, just remember this was designed to be in a similar class as the Original Jeep, how fast were they, 50 to 60 miles an hour. I know that a thing will do 70 Volkswagens will scream their guts out all day as well. Not as fast as a Beetle as they had different rear end ratios, but could climb a hill a hell of a lot better.

I had one back in the late 80's, when I lived in San Clemente. It was a great beach car. Mine had a hardtop removable roof. I once had to use my driver's door to knock a road raging saved my life. So it has one defensive option.

I took mine on the five freeway in orange county. My THING and FIAT X/19 .were more fun than both of my Subaru WRX',S I bought when I moved back to Oregon. The fiat was able to reach 86 MPH. But was awesome.

Absolutely hysterical car…even funnier review. What moron designed this "Thing"? And what bigger morons would buy one? It was funny then, but even funnier now. I would probably buy one just for Sunday drives around a Wal-Mart parking lot to get the looks and laughs. The ultimate in cheap thrills!
