Electra Meccania Solo is only half of a car, but it's all electric

The oddly-styled, three-wheeled Solo is ultracompact transportation for one with a 100-mile electric range.

It looks like a hatchback that has been T-boned by a heavy truck.

Please keep this in mind when you make future videos. You said several times that this car is half as narrow as a normal car, I believe you meant to say it is half as wide as a normal car. Narrow means lack of width so saying a car is half as narrow as a normal car is the same as saying the car is twice as wide as a normal car.

ah….. 16.1 kWh battery….. if it was 0.9 kWhs more, it would perhaps, qualify for an additional $3 000 CDN in rebates.

I have driven several SOLOs. It is a new experience … a person needs to know and understand how a small electric car feels and operates. Then it is business (driving a car) as usual.

Sometimes having a car is about helping other people get to work too.

Lack of air conditioning as standard is more important that you might think. Paradoxically, and perfectly illustrated by this video, the smaller the car, the more important aircon is – because small cars mist-up on the inside much faster than bigger ones. In the UK, with a much cooler and wetter climate than CA, I use aircon mostly to quickly de-mist the windows than I use it for temperature control.

If this trike actually comes to production, I'll buy one. But I have the same feeling from the 10 cars of similar type that never materialized. It's a great idea, that appeals to all, but is sadly unrealistic… See: Corbin Sparrow / NMG

I like that you show this car running out in the rain, while the driver is keeping dry in the enclosed compartment. The competing Arcimoto SRK only shows their car videos in the open-air condition, as if they're only going to sell it in Southern California!

This company is so fuckin smart! I love it! They are going with a "5hour energy" plan. Smaller product = better mass production = over time cheaper sales price.

The exact opposite of what tesla did lol

Half as narrow as a normal car? When a gay black man steels a car for s road test, you KNOW it'll be funny.

It's irrelevant, the cost, as with a lot of other evs is way too expensive for the average person, and until that is much more competitive it's just a novelty item!

First, it's "Electra Meccanica", not "Electra Meccania". Second, why add the weight of a second door? Third, I'd be interested in how much effort is required to change a flat rear tire.

    My thoughts:
    • No fold-down rear seat.
    • Would be better as a front-wheel drive for better traction in snow
    • $15,500 is more than twice what it should be.
    • I was expecting more range on a charge.
(Some who would love this may need to travel further than 100 miles a day. especially in an emergency)
    • EV's are not very "green" to make.
    • No i.c.e. with manual transmission option.
(Not every place has charging stations, and douchebag icers like to block them.)

Elio (if they ever get their sh-t together) has these things covered, and is still looking better. (plus I like the idea of having a 5-speed manual to shift.)

    • No possibility of a naggy passenger to complain about my Rock and Heavy metal music, or someone always needing a ride.
    • Two doors. (If an Elio rolls over onto it's only door, you're trapped.
    • EV's are "Green"er to operate.
    • Full-bodied front end.
( I can picture an Elio getting a front wheel, that has no marker lights, clipped off at night by someone passing too close.)
    • Ultra compact. Easy to park
    • Better looking than an Elio

This video is old and not accurate. Electra Meccanica is the correct name. A/C is standard now.

This appeals to me. I like the minimalism, just what you need and no more. How much material and energy does it take to haul one human being and their attendent stuff from point A to point B? Why plop said human being in the seat of a pickup truck, with 10 pounds of stuff in the passenger seat, just to move them around? This kind of waste drives me crazy, and it's why I have motorcycles. I hope Electra Meccanica is successful

  • Good luck changing the rear tire if you're stranded somewhere. It doesn't look easy to change — at all.

They should've made a 4 wheel solo instead of a 3 wheeler. Regulations and sh*t makes it not worth buying and exporting in case I wanted to take it with me back to my country. It's not a bike and not a car either so yah, they decided you can import it 🤦‍♂️
