I took my Dodge Viper to a dyno to see how much horsepower it has. Dodge said my Viper made 450 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque — but those numbers weren’t quite right.

Well the 2004 viper srt10 with the 8.3 is 505hp 500 torque. But I love these body styles better I found a nice red one for $33'000

So if a 500 hp viper loses 15% to the wheels that would be 425 hp to the wheels? So if the same viper is then supercharged and makes 600 hp does it now lose 90 hp? I don’t think it does. You don’t lose more hp by adding more hp. So the 15% really isn’t an accurate way of measuring you actual hp.

Manufacturers quote their HP and torque numbers low. People cannot sue them for getting more than promised.

Now a 2018 mustang 5.0 with an automatic makes 50 more hp to the wheels and the same torque as the V10.
