Fact: Most auto makers calibrate speedometers to read up to 10% faster than actual speed.
This equates to fewer warranty claims and higher likelihood of lease termination fees.

Temperature gauges are important during the winter. You never want to drive with a cold engine.

Oh no!! Cooley forget to mention that the little arrow nex to the gas pump icon in the fuel gauge shows wher your gas cap is. If your vehicle doesnt have that arrow it means u dont hv a gas cap.

I'm sorry, I don't agree that the tach is useless, in my view it's very important for many reasons

    Couple thing on this video.

    1. Do us a favour and show more Cooley, less of the very basics of a car.

    2. In the EU, where most drive manual, a tacho is very important. You save fuel, keeps you informed when you reach best performance (if you know the numbers that is) and you have a visual aid to what the car is doing.

    3. Temperature gauges, while you never actually overheat, you may "underheat". Never rev the engine hard when under working temperature (90 celcius mostly)

Cnet: Hey we have this amazing BMW alpina trim how should we incorporate it into a video?

Normal person: let's do a full review to show how it combines high end luxury and amazing performance

CNET: lol naw lets just show idiots how to read the speedometer and basic warning lights and save the full review for the newest Toyota Corolla.

I like to have a temp-gauge in the winter, it kind of tells me when I should start feeling warmer air coming from the heater.

Usually they're deliberately set up to show a higher velocity than the actual such that manufacturers could never be held liable for any speeding. Laws are stricter on how much lower the velocity shown may be (none in the EU), rather than higher. As a matter of fact some cars could be reprogrammed to show the actual speed, but at that point the car is modified so it's your fault if it's incorrect.

Tachometer and temperature gauge are very important….I don't care how advance the car is….after a number of years of use, the radiator and other stuff get gunky and need cleaning, the average driver does nothing but change the engine oil and tyres…the temp gauge will show a little higher temp if it is dirty even if that does not necessarily mean it is critical but it will degrade performance….similarly, piston rings wear and dirty throttle body and air filters mean a higher rpm at idle, which again means degredation

You should have mention the color code of the warning lights. Just like the traffic lights. Green, amber/yellow and red! I'm a car guy so I always watch my gauges and lights because I have to do the repairs but there are people out there that just plain ignore the lights because they are not aware of the meaning. Regardless of what the symbol is…green is 'ok', amber is 'check as soon as possible' and red is 'shut it down now'.

Correction: The temperature gauge: Most folks in California never care about that gauge or look at it anyway. Even though my car is fuel injected, (what car isn't nowadays) I still want to see that needle move before I hit the road in a Minnesota January. Its the most important gauge on my instrument panel while I'm scraping the ice off my car.

So he basically wants to explain 'amazing' plethora of information displayed in instrument cluster and comments how most of the drivers see only speedometer.
But again he says pretty much everything is unecessary except the speedometer😂😂😂😂😂
