Diesel BMW X5 SUV is an excellent road trip and long commute machine

BMW’s big diesel is a perfect SUV for road trips:

With excellent torque, an autobahn-tuned ride and its long cruising range, the BMW X5 diesel would be our road trip choice.

great review…looking at a diesel but the fuel consumption is not any better than compared to the gas Audi Q5 which is smaller…but better than the Q7 which is larger…..BMW price point should be less or include many of the options that most will get that is standard on the Audi or Benz. I will stay with the Audi for now.

225BHP in a 35D is an insult. The rest of the world gets the 309 BHP 35D.

Great review but why oh why are Car ‘experts’ just towing the line of ‘diesels are controversial’ rather than correcting it?!?

Muppets who are pushing their own agendas are saying diesels are bad. These bmw diesels are equipped with tech to eliminate the nitrous/nitrogen oxide emissions. So there’s no issues !?!

I'd love to have one, but concerned about reliability and maintenance costs. I had an X3 that needed $6,000 in engine work that was thankfully covered right before the warranty ran out.

So I’m paying $1 more a gallon to get 5 mpg better? Doing the calculations, I would lose money, especially paying additional for the Diesel engine

Idiots will still buy a BMW based on the name. Plastic cheap buttons, they need to step it, and stop charging for a back camera, when a Kia has it standard

I drove this truck yesterday as a rental car and I have to say this truck is dam nice to drive. Did over 900km in it and was comfortable the whole way and this the exact same car as demonstrated. I loved the screen from BMW it was very nice and clear, The Diesel ( I usually don't like diesels ) was the only one I have ever driven and I left thinking "I could actually buy a Diesel now if it wasnt for local Diesel fuel taxes."

The price isn't too bad if you get it 3 years old like I did. Plus, getting 600+ miles per tank is pretty awesome.
