If I want a Civic Type R that's equally as sporty as it's comfortable to look at I'd get the FD2 Civic Type R, not this.

Thought you was a driving guy. You sound a bit like a boring pensioner moaning about little things. It's a driver's car and it does that fantastically. I just bought a brand new one in my 40's and I like the fact it's a bit mad looking. At least it doesn't look boring. Come on Chris !!! 🤔🤔

Wish there wasn’t such a bad stigma around Honda’s because VTEC is love VTEC is life. Oh yeah and don’t mix us real Honda guys up with those stupid ass ricers.

Thank God we now have a presenter that is not only a capable drive but interesting to listen to. Clarkeson was very interesting to listen too, and quite frankly should be the UK's transport minister, as the current one seems to want to double journey times, bu Clarkesont in my opinion, even though he has spent most of his life driving cars, cannot. So many reviews on the FK8 make me laugh, especially those from over the pond. They speak on BHP figures and newton meters being really important in something called " the daily drive" what it that? a new concept, a car you drive everyday wow. I am 55 today, had over 20 hot hatches dating back to the early 90's and have now owned a FK8 for 4 weeks and clocked up 4,864 miles as nationwide salesman. I will give some pro comments and some negative comments which you can consider. It's a great track car, if you change the pads, that you can commute in every day. The gear knob can be colder than the mother-law. On a run she will do 35 mpg. You cannot have suspension in comfort and everything else in sport or Type R mode, so grow some, lose weight then not an issue. 30 profile tyres difficult to use on UK roads, as our government seems to be building the biggest off-road track experience, to help MPV drivers think they made a good choice. I have fitted Ebac 25mm bolt to hub spacers all round, kept the 20" 245 tyres but taken the profile to 40. It's now much better, arches are full, stance better cornering more fluid. Seats four adults comfortable for those occasions you have to have people in the car. Large boot for when your wife comes out for the day, bring the complete circus with her. Car is too quite. Fitted a Martelius exhaust, sorted. Owe on that note go for sports Cat, no first or mid box, instead straight through to rear silencer. Now sounds like the touring car on the motorway and seems to stop people texting on the move as they now look at the Type R coming through. The driving seat is low, which is apparently an issue with the RS Focus i had before. Did'nt cause an issue to me, but have noticed you sit nicely low in the Civic Type R. The gearbox is smooth and you can stand on the brakes into roundabouts whilst the car rev matches itself as you come down the gears. Nice. Headlights okay, but when pushing hard at night on B roads you cannot see far enough. Fitted a single mid mounted Laser LED
Triple R 850 part number 00R6-Std which is a very long distance spotlight. My car is the metallic grey but i think the red looks great. Grey seems better in the corporate car park because most people haven't even noticed I no longer have the boring Audi A4 SLine Blk Edition bullshit. If you can drive, your not too overweight and enjoy pushing hard sometimes, this is the car for you. If you cannot drive got for a DSG four-wheel drive Golf R they are safe, boring, blend in like sheep and you can tell your mates you need a reliable Daily Drive. Cheers thanks for reading.

Someone is driving a new type R where I live and he is a complete knob with it. Speeding everywhere, cutting people up, overtaking on left etc etc.

That's a great point about how you could at a push afford a car like that in your 20's. Nowadays every car that's in anyway good is way out of the reach of most people in their 20's

Ohh, stop whining. I heard a bag of crap. 😛 First – 5 minutes of crying about 8th gen torsion beam and praising 7th gen independent rear suspension and suddenly – oh this car is so tail happy, that I start to wonder if it really has independent rear suspension. Well of course – the Civic is a mass produced car. 80% of the people wouldn't notice non-independent rear suspension, especially given that 80% of cheap ass hatchbacks have it. And about the looks of the new one – I think it is great. The 7th was a bit of a soap dish
