Doug Demuro driving my Yugo was a terrible experience

Austin bought his dream car and it is probably not the same as your dream car but he loves it. Doug Demuro was also excited to drive it!

Thanks for having me on again Ed! It actually wasn't that bad filming with Doug. Had I not been sick it would have been enjoyable.

Yeah, $1000 is WAY too much for a Yugo. I've seen them for sale for $100. Okay, it runs. So add a couple hundred or so on there. Still paid at least twice more than he should have.

  • I'm jealous…it was close to me and I did not even know about it.

In Serbia, Yugo costs 200$ if it drives. But filling Yugo's tank doubles it's price😂😂😂

The Balkans are correct. This Yugo commercial says it beats all other car manufacturers, so it must be true.

This is the most misleading YouTube video title I’ve ever seen.

I worked at a dealer that sold Yugo’s. I still have a key fob. Transport drivers learned not to tighten them down to tight, it would twist the frame. One of the mechanics had one and could not get insurance because if it was hit, it would be a total.

Thanks for the story. Couldnt help laugh (sorry) thinking about you with the head in the toilet, with Doug Demuro in a Jaguar outside hammering your phone. These cars were also sold in Denmark and had a certain popularity along with other eastern-european cars in the 80's. There was an economic reccesion, and these cars (Lada Riva, Skoda Estelle, Yugo and so on) were an economical alternative to e.g. a 10 year old Opel Kadett or Ford Escort. It was a "revamped" Fiat 127, which again was perhaps the most popular car in the country in the 70's. Parts were dirt cheap and the mechanical ones interchangeable, and if you had some basic tools and technical knowledge, you could run these forever for scraps. But you paid the price which was comfort and safety. But for a little city runabout, cheaper than going by the bus, not too bad.

I hated the video too. And I'm not from eastern Europe. I hate it because he reviews a 35 year-old, unrestored beater as if it were a brand new car that was somehow delivered from the factory with rotting body parts and brittle plastic. He holds a completely worn out, daily driven 1980's soviet budget car to a modern luxury car standard. I've worked on restoring classic cars, and that video makes him sound like a smug, spoiled Cardashian who has no idea of what a car under $50.000 even looks like.

Hard to believe that people from the Balkans would be proud of this junk. After all, it started life as a FIAT, and under communist rule, this car was, of course, made into genuine garbage. So, to be proud of making an okay car into the worst car in the world – as it has been described by many prominent critics – is not exactly something to be proud of.

This is some clickbait level title bullshit. The title of the video makes it seem like Doug Demuro was why it was a bad experience. Absolutely pathetic, VINWiki.

Im from a Serbia raised and born, and i live in a small village, nothing special, very nice very quiet, a nice life all around, but here is the thing, EVERY GUY OR GIRL OWNS A YUGO, ofcourse me too, you cant be a Serbian and not have at least one Yugo throughout your life, so everybody is just driving a Yugo litteraly and its really fun, theres even like a little meeting we do every sunday, not all the poeple from the village but the village does have about 1000 people living in it so we meet up every sunday and drive our Yugos and sometimes have a barbacue, yea maybe other countries of the world didnt embrace the Yugo, but Serbia sure did.

The Yugo was never suited for the US market due primarily to not being built to US emission standards, it was a square peg in a round hole and suffered accordingly. Therefore the criticism of the car is relevant to US use only. Note that Volkswagen got around US emission standards 2008-2015 by lying until they were caught, building cars for the US market is not easy. There were worse cars in Europe, but not the US. A wonderful curiosity….and it is now turning the corner into collectability.
