Everyone loves how this car drives and how it is an overall great package however as an owner they leave our one glaring factor. This car has horrible reliability. I know numerous people who were constantly at the dealership for repairs. One just ended up giving the car back since he was there monthly. All in all the golf gti is not a car one can live with for the rest of their life peacefully and happily.

For around the price your talking, I would go with a Tesla Model 3. If I had more money than the Tesla Model S. It would have to be a Tesla something. Not paying for anymore gas would be wonderful. Though I still have ICE cars. 🙁

the car has a 4 yr comprehensive warranty .who cares if the thing blows up let vw pay 4 it.honestly I've had my mk 7 for 2 yrs and literally no issues whatsoever.the build quality and interior is superb.if theres anything to shit on id say the car needs another 40hp. if u want a fun practical car without breaking the bank the gti is unmatched straight up.

I bought a 2017 SE manual. No regrets after 15K. I bought it new for a hair under 26 thousand. It replaced a 60K truck and while I do occasionally miss having a truck I no regrets about the GTI. I am usually a serial car buyer but I am planning to keep this one a while.

It's not the VW GTI. It's the VW Golf GTI. Just like the Polo GTI is a different car. If you're going to be doing an auto show, please at least get the name of the car right.

VW is not importing the 2 door version to the US and I am allergic to 4 door cars. So not going to continue my GTI ownership! and that SUX!

Shouldn't any car dubbed "the ultimate daily driver" possess ultimate reliability so you can make it to work to pay the thing off in the first place?

Full disclosure, I did not watch the video.

had a vw golf….trash quality…and always spun in a circle in the winter…terrible traction…I have a civic now and none of those issues 🙂

Been saying for years that the GTI is my “you can only pick one forever” choice. It isn’t the best in any one single thing, but it is at very, very good at everything. Speed, comfort, practicality, quality, handling, and fuel economy. If every car is a compromise, the GTI is the least compromise in every aspect.

I have had 5 Rabbit/Golfs GTI's and a sorted Mk6 would be ideal BUT a 2009 Type R with DSG hits the sweet spot of price, practicality and capabilities – and stealth.

Also, it is a well known secret that VW understates the power numbers for insurance purposes and that drive train setup can pump out over 350hp without too much coaxing. Pay close attention to the bushings and wiring harnesses and you are good to go.

I owned a GTI. Hella fun to drive but all kinds of weird problems. I call the problems weird because I never experienced them with any other car. Things like Upper struts failing, the clutch pedal became extremely difficult to push, the passenger window gear broke, one of the wipers, while in use in a rain storm, flew off, sunroof handle broke, alternator failed with low miles and a bunch of other things I don't remember. I'm considering leasing another one. I don't have to pay for any maintenance and can turn it in after three years.

I downsized my lease since my wife and I were buying a place from a 2017 A4 to a 2019 GTI. Literally the most well rounded car I've ever owned.
