I would not buy any new petrol or diesel car.
In 3-5 years it wont have any resale value, because everything will all be electric and new car buyers will ONLY want electric.
The depreciation will be catastrophic.

I have today picked up my r32 golf mk5 from Volkswagen coulsdon.
They have lost my service history book as to which most of my service history is independent as far as I no.
This has caused my car which is classed as a modern classic to depreciate exponentially in value.
They said that if they do not find the service book within 24 hours they would sort something out as to which I do not no.
They even tried to talk me into part exchanging my car with them and giving me a new car.
becuase a private sale or sale to a private dealership will not fetch even near £3000 but they will give me the value of my car on part exchange.
my car is worth £7000 plus.
This would cause me to have higher monthly outgoings and debt in my name because of there mistakes.
I have told them I want another alternative I'm not willing to take a massive financial loss on a car I truly cherish and also get in debt with them.
I hope that there management can come to a decision that they have caused my car to lose a large amount of value becuase of the mistakes and actions and I want the value of my car reimbursed.
they can keep my car due to it has no value now and they have caused this.
even if they was to part exchange my car for the value of what it is and I dont get another car I'd be happy with that.
I was so happy with my car and looked forward to tuning and working on it over the next few years.
But now sadly becuase of there actions I no longer will able to keep my car becuase it will cause me to lose alot of money.
This is completely unfair and I hope that they can understand this and come to a decision to help someone that values there product and there brand.
I've always loved volkswagen and now I am questioning if I will stay loyal to there brand due to this absolutely ridiculous situation they have caused for myself and I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.
