2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport review: international first drive | CarAdvice

This is no ordinary midlife update.

The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport is a super-competent seven-seater in a hotly contested luxury medium-SUV segment. It’s technically an update to the model that came out in 2015, one which this Alborz Fallah actually bought and owned for some time.

This will be studied in schools…. Lack of product differentiation. Range, disco, free lander and defender eating from each other thus collapse of the brand.

"It's got the idynamic package – that's why it looks so sporty" – it's shaped like a brick!
"3,500 new parts" – lets not talk about planned obsolescence then.
"when you drive them for a few hours, you get used to the (acceleration) lag"
"the dynamic of this car feels substantially improved over it's predecessor" – but no mention of what it is like compared to a proper car.
"it very much suits a young family" "it's the ideal family car" – because every family should spend their money on a new Land Rover.

How can this guy get excited about a something like this?

On the bright side, at least he took the off-roader out of the city. That's some pretty rough roads there.

I’ve just bought a new XC90 inscription for £55300 (used to have a Freelander 2 metropolis from new) & I’ve just speced up a new discovery sport hse to as close as I can get spec wise as my volvo , it came to £53300 , you must be crazy to spend that amount of cash on a wee car like the disco sport.

Would have been nice if you had sat in the back seat with the front set for your height and mention how tall you are so we can gauge the packaging of the rear. Also, no offroad? Would have also liked to know if you thought the 21's on the tires make the car ride harder, as this is usually the case. Thank you.

Good review but: too much talking head. No siting in the back seat so we could see how big. No off-road discussion and what about the new gadgets like the tow unit? Thanks.

Back row seats not avalible on 21 inch wheels, unless you lose the tow bar and spend £900 plus on different shock absorbers

No so sure about 2020 version the silently older 2015,2016 , 2018 are not reliable and full of problems. I use it now and every month it comes with problems and it cost me fortune to keep this car. I was shocked when I have looked at reviews it seems that this is most problematic car that people are not happy.

You failed to mention the serious issue of the oil dilution problem with the diesels if the vehicle is only used for short journeys
