A “Dynamic Lasso made from chromic strip” may sound like an ass-kicking weapon designed to hang from Gal Godot’s waist in the next DC Comics’ superhero blockbuster, but instead, it’s the defining design feature of the 2020 Hyundai Sonata.

Any of the stylish men and women who beaver away at automakers’ CAD workstations will tell you that the essence of any successful car design can conveyed in a couple of simple lines or “gestures.” That’s all true, but rarely do those lines end up playing as visible and central a role in defining the look of production car as they do in this Alabama-born, Korean-badged family sedan.

In terms of tech, this Sonata blows Accord and Camry away. Actually no cars in this segment come close to matching Sonata in the tech department.

The rear tail lights are exactly the civics tail lights. I'm talking about the main light assembly not the center led strip

I really like it! I got stuck with a lame 2018 Nissan Altima, after 4 months the 2019 Altima came out looking super nice but got stuck with the 2018

My 2017 Sports 2.0T with the flat bottom steering wheel, paddle shifters and 18" rims still looks way sexier than this mess. 😁

Guys, don't worry. Only the turbo-charged will have this weird fishy grill. The naturally-aspirated and hybrid models have much better-looking grill designs. I personally think the hybrid looks the best. Go to YouTube channel Asian Petrolhead and see them yourself.

I like the looks overall but why are automakers all in a competition to make the biggest grills? That's my biggest knock against this car. Just so much grill! Those lights and chrome trim look great tho! I'll give it a look for sure.

    Family sedan…? Seriously.
In fact, most Koreans prefer to ride Azera as a family sedan rather than a sonata.
