Here's Why the 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Is an Icon

The 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi was a special car — and today I’m going to show you why. I’m going to review the original WRX STi, then I’m going to drive it and show you what it’s like behind the wheel of the Impreza WRX STi.

Doug, I love the review, love your other stuff. That car needs snow and good winter tires. your handling, fun factor and acceleration score would have been a 7. I love my 05OTB, ita a practical car in the summer but a bit thirsty. but when winter comes, every morning is a rally run. I cant wait for the first snow storm of the year!

Interesting. For all the years I've driven in EU basically every car had the option of angling headlights

Doug's laughter at 22:34 is a joy to see, and such a cool, visceral reminder of what a cool car it was, and how cars that were really, really FUN to drive are such a wonderful, rare thing, and there are seemingly so few of them, that are still affordable, nowadays. There are a few, but it's too bad there aren't more…

The reason the wheel is plastic is because it has an airbag in it 😂

Airbag + Metal wheel = A real weapon of mass destruction.

Just got my 2005 STI. 95k miles, only KW Variant 1 Coilovers, a cobb turbo cover on it and a brake master cylinder mount to stiffen up the brake feel. My god so much fun. Smiles per gallon the whole time you drive it.

I bought my PSM STi brand new in 2004. Never had problems except for the stupid struts that kept going out due to a design defect. Never modified it (except for Tokiko D Specs) or crashed it. Not my daily driver.

Thought about getting rid of it but this video changed my mind.

These cars are made pretty cheap true, but there are ppl that like cars that drive them, and guys that love driving cars, and i got to say these cars are definetely a joy to drive….cheers

If I was in my early to late 20’s when this came out I would’ve bought it in a heartbeat. It’s everything I’ve ever looked for in a car. I’m 18 now but I’m gonna try as hard as I can to find a close to stock one in the future if I have the money. They’ll probably be so expensive by then…

I’ve been trying to mod my regular Mazda 3 2.0 to be like a Mazdaspeed 3, only to realize that the WRX STi is everything the Mazdaspeed is and way more.

The simple blue interior, relative practicality of a 4 door, manual, turbo sound, wheels, spoiler, body style…

    Everything is perfect

Loved my 04 wrx but the turbo lag was horrendous compared to every turbo car i have owned since then.. heck even my 87 turbo II spooled quicker with a vastly larger turbo
