Honda e: the EV that electric car haters love // Jonny Smith
The Honda e is probably the most fascinating EV without a Tesla badge. In fact it’s probably more fascinating, because its design alone captured the attention and desire of legions of car enthusiasts who don’t even bloody like electric cars.
This 137 mile range Pokemon faced thing has a 35.5kWh battery pack which can be rapid charged in half an hour at 100kw. 0-62 takes 8.3 seconds with this 150hp launch edition car, but you will be able to option it with 134hp thereafter.
On paper it almost loses in every respect to its plug-in peers, but there’s a charm to the £27,000 e, and for some that’s enough. Using the power of finance you’ll be able to live with one from under £300 a month. Regardless of whether you give a toss about zero emission cars, there is no denying this kind of design is precisely what Honda does best. I hope they do more small, slightly-retro-but-not rear wheel drive cars in the near future. Oh, the power of dreams…

This is actually the best shot/Edited/written review of this car to date. Specific to the car and not a cookie cutter review. Keep up the good work the views will roll in eventually.

Great car, but what’s that watch your wearing?

It's pretty cute! Plus it doesn't take as much garage space. If you want to go grocery shopping you could probably take another car or order online lol But to enjoy a calm ride and have an easier time finding a parking space I think it's a great option 😊
Ryan Kendall
I absolutely love this car. Shame I only have £1k to spend on a car and not 30+ 🤣

Honda are the pits at the moment. This car makes a petrol head like me want it, whoops, no, it will take me hours to get anywhere because the available mileage is so silly. It restricts the sales to virtually urban rather than those who live out of town. Silly mistake, so Honda are still, well almost, the pits and will restrict their own sales.

"I love you but u useless" – there's your new tagline 😂

The gamer/boy racers EV choice. I want that but shame about the space inside and the boot space

I just love the look of this car! The body shape and the headlight shape, it is like a car from the 80's…. like a golf gti

It's shockingly good looking for such a small, boxy hatchback. Reminiscent of old VW Rabbit or early 90's civic.

I love when Honda does "simple" design as this one. It is always one of the best, timeless, pure form. But my God, when they do "modern" – they are so grotesque and awful that they beat everyone as well in being unsightly.

Hondas have always been more expensive and less featured than their competitors, on paper. Which makes them seem like a silly choice, on paper. But, we don't drive on paper. The engineering and quality of a Honda is why it costs more. I've owned a stack of different cars, and the Hondas have been far and away my favourites, for a variety of reasons. They're just good cars. It's that simple.
I can honestly say this is the first EV I've seen that I wanted to own. Honda are the first mainstream company to market and EV that actually looks good. All the others are rubbish. But this little thing is cute, and it will still look good in 10 years time, whereas the others will all age terribly. Look at a first model Prius now – ugh. Horrible. Who would ever want one? Even the Teslas, despite how good they are, you have to admit, they're bloody ugly things. But this Honda is killing it in the looks department.
I want one.
