My First Drive in the NEW 2020 Corvette C8!

The new 2020 Corvette Stingray is here and it’s time for my first drive! Ever since the huge reveal event I’ve been looking forward to having a go to see what the mid-engined C8 is actually like, and this is finally the day!

For the first time, the Corvette is now a mid-engined car with a 6.2l naturally aspirated V8 mounted behind the occupants. Pushing out 495bhp through an 8spd Tremec dual clutch it boasts impressive numbers; 0-60mph in 2.9s and on to 194mph. In traditional fashion the Stingray offers a removable targa roof panel that can be stowed in the back to hear even more from the exhaust. Onboard are a whole host of new technologies, features, gadgets and controls to play with.

Let’s have a full run through of everything you could want to know about the new generation of Corvette and find out how it stacks up against expectations.

Kicking off from Las Vegas, I’m sharing a car with Matt Maran Motoring to explore the Lake Mead area and get a feel for what it’s all about. Check Matt out too at:

Thanks for watching, Tim

Great review and congratulations to Chevrolet for offering a super car at a lower price than the competition even though £80,000 is not cheap.

That thing looks so good with out that extra aero add on spoiler amd splitter becomes more of a kit car look than an elegant exotic

At about @7:00, wondering what cabin noise and heat are like. Ah. Mentions "excessive" nose at @9:00, that would be a strike for me. I wouldn't want a kit car.

This car shits on a lot of euro cars including shmees benz and can match to exotics like Porsche etc with one quarter of the price. GM figured it out and gonna sell the shit out of this. It looks better than some exotics as well.

I like it. Its a little over exagerated, in places, a little over done, like most American car designs that are going for "wow factor", but its the best looking thing to come out of Chevrolet, and it beats the heck out of those tired old man sports coupes that Chevrolet has been fielding year after year after year with the Corvette badge… And whats with Camaro and Mustang?.. retro is not appealing to my palate. that ship (design) sailed long ago. In with the new, and out with the old. IMO

I actually prefer the look of the C7. It’s almost like this design is trying too hard to look like something other than a Corvette.

What alot of people in Italy and Germany, Europe don't understand. Since 1970 the US had a horse power ban the cars started losing horsepower every year on and it steadied around 275 to 300 HP. It killed the Mustangs and Corvettes, Camaro, Early New Gen Dodge Challengers. Now that ban has been lifted. Lambo and Ferrari. Porsche. TVR. Europe is going to see some outrageous HP cars come from the US now. Their getting things dialed in. Corvette will be competing with the Ford GT in Performance here soon. Its really going to get interesting in the next 5 years. Only thing is there's more and more electric cars coming out and that makes things hard to predict.

GM should have kept the longer hood with the shorter rear and that would have kept it ' s heritage intact , though I like the Long Beach red color.

Read this if you want to know how scumbag Chevy dealers treat C8 Buyers!

Below is the email I received from Lynn Layton Chevy after the dealership

wanted a non-refundable deposit without providing me anything in writing in

terms of what to expect at delivery. i.e. $10k premiums, $500 nitrogen

filled tires, etc. This very unprofessional email response was triggered

after I finally asked the dealer "What planet he was living on" Apparently

GM doesn't want to exercise any control over franchisees like Lynn Layton

I filed a complaint with GM. GM blew me off. Allowing dealerships to prey

upon customers doesn't do the Corvette brand and GM dealerships like

    yourself any favors.

While not having the power or the price of the 2020 C8 Corvette the actions

of Lynn Layton Chevy lead me to purchase a new 2020 Mazda MX-5. The Mazda

dealership treated me like I was buying a $150,000 Porsche and I didn't feel

like I needed to take a shower after I left the dealership. Until GM sorts

out BAD dealerships and shows that it actually values their customer I'm

sitting out the C8. Like the C8 cockpit GM needs to develop a

"Customer-Centric" business model and NOT the tired and old

"Dealership-Centric" model it's been using for decades.

I, unlike GM, tend to look at the long term. The C8 is currently a hot

commodity given all the overblown marketing hype about getting an "exotic

supercar" at Chevy prices using repurposed GM parts from cars like the Chevy

Spark. Questions that you and other Chevy dealerships should ask are:

    1) Will the C8 be a hot commodity in two years after the competition

    starts producing mass market supercars?

    2) How do the actions of other Chevy dealerships affect your business?

    Wow, that's original!

Classless and chicken shit. Hang up on somebody. Come to the dealership and

tell me that face to face.

Don't need your luck, been doing this 25 years and have done quite well.

Still doing quite well. You've had ample opportunity

to order a car but all you've done is TALK about it. You want to talk to me

more about what planet I'm from and how inept I am

about selling a car and say screw all of us. Then please come to the

dealership and talk face to face with me. Now you have a nice day.

I think most Americans would drive it with the windows down if the top was off. I wonder if it was designed to be quieter that way.

Congratulations for making all these videos!
The Corvette is without doubt the car with the best sound. I am sure that many people buy it just for the sound.
But, it consumes more fuel than an F1 car when pushing hard!
And I'm not joking! If you are going to use it every day, you will have to learn how to caress the gas pedal… or you will soon spend for fuel more than you have spent for the whole car.
