The 993 interior with it's five round instruments i a classic timeless one, the 996 interior looks just what it is, dated.

The 996 makes you look like the guy who could not afford a more expensive Porsche and that us probably the case.

It’s a bargain right up to the point when it needs two new turbos because they have rotted.

Doug, you're wrong about this car's interior – it sucks.

The Type 993, 997 and 991 ALL have the "classic" long dashboard of the 70s and 80s cars.
Only this one strayed with its "bulbous" dashboard styling.
Overall, while still an iconic Porsche, the 996 just isn't as appealing as the interiors/exteriors of the aforementioned cars.

The new 992.2 has that classic interior design theme. Hopefully it stays that way for future 911 generations going forward for the sake of traditional styling.

I think the headlights are a lot better actually than those old fashioned looking circular ones. Chevy vans used to have that circular headlight in the 1960's

I actually think these look really, really smart now, but not in silver. In silver or grey, these looks boring as hell, but in a deep blue or something else quite nice, these look the bollocks

i remember when I was a kid I liked the headlights on this one. It looked more modern and aggressive. I was disappointed when they went back to more conservative styling with the 997. And now I still don’t mind the headlights. It’s not a big deal. They look just as good as the classics. And I agree the rest of the car looks awesome. A simple case where people are too close minded and whiny.

Great video Doug. Having owned a 996C2 and now a 996 Turbo the main different is the engine and suspension setup, it's another level in the turbo.

Well don’t forget about engine piston bore scoring. 99-2005 bad engines with bore scoring, can't be fixed unless you rebuild the engine. (the Turbos and GT's are exempt?

I still have my 2002 996 turbo that I bought new. Even though it doesn't have the IMS bearing issue, it does have a problem with the glue on the coolant tubes failing. Mine failed 3 years ago and had to get them all pinned, cost about the same as the IMS fix on the non-turbo cars.

I always disliked the interior and headlights but the rest of the car is very good looking
I skipped this one going from 993TT to 997TT which I still have and will keep but t the 996TT now is the most affordable Mezger Turbo and the best bang for the buck you can find any brand any model period
