The Original 1992 Dodge Viper Was a Ridiculously Basic, Dangerous Sports Car

The original Dodge Viper is a special car — and today I’m reviewing the 1992 Viper. First I’ll take you on a tour of this special Viper and show you all the quirks and features of one of the original Dodge Viper models built; then I’ll get the Viper on the road and drive it — and I’ll let you know what it’s like behind the wheel of Dodge’s modern muscle car, the 1992 Viper RT/10.

Boy! Do I feel like an IDIOT! To 'LUST' after what was essentially a, ROLLING DEATH TRAP! It was literally, "UNSAFE at ANY SPEED!"

I imported a 1996 one into the UK in I think 2007 – it was amazing, when you revved the engine it cleared the gravel away on the driveway ! You did have to make sure that it was straight before hitting the gas. A true Icon.

Still one of the most beautiful and stunning cars ever made. I had no idea it was so stripped of "features". That makes it that much cooler. I love it. Thanks for bringing me back to my childhood.
For once I disagree with the score. Styling, fun factor, and cool factor had to be at the very least an 8. But hey it's DOUG's score, not mine xP

No trunk release makes it the only secure storage in the car.

  • Always adored the design of the original Viper. Closer to perfect it doesn't get (could only do better with a more "ducktailed" rear)

"You can't believe they're not more popular with Enthusiasts?"

See what happens when you leave out the 'cupholders'?

The seatbelts are on the door because it doesn't have airbags. If a car didn't have airbags it had to have automatic seatbelts. The belts were not meant to be released but had some obvious flaws

It would be really cool for these older car's to have someone from that era that worked for this particular model to interview him and question about the reason's behind some of their choices.

This is some machine. I only ever saw one back then between 95-97 when i was still doing my apprenticeship. Looked menacing.
