Review: Chris Harris drives the new BMW M3 | Top Gear

It’s here. The sixth generation G80 BMW M3 and *that* massive grille. Being such a controversial car, there was only one person to slot into the carbon bucket seat of this £75k, 503bhp, rear-wheel drive saloon: Craig Revel Horwood. Unfortunately, he wasn’t around, so we put Chris Harris behind the wheel instead. We hope that’s alright. Here’s what he had to say in this brand new instalment of Chris Harris Drives…Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: MORE TOP GEAR: Top Gear Series 29: Geneva Online Motor Show: First Look: ABOUT TOP GEAR: Want to watch a bit of Top Gear on the internet? 1. That thing is ugly! Like a pig snout in the front

  2. The look I can deal with, when the F83 came out everyone hated it, the gearbox… NOFW. From a previous F83 and E46 M3 owner.

  3. Worst looking rims since Fiat's 80's… It wasn't easy, but they managed it… :)))

  4. This car (sedan and coupe’) fell out the ugly tree and hit EVERY branch on the way down. Very sad 😢

  5. Front grill – what where they thinking? LMAO

  6. I'm glad I'm not the only person that's been disappointed with the zf have boxes. I have a tuned zf which helps but it gets in the way of pulling the potential out of the car. I'd happily exchange for a manual or dual clutch setup…

  7. Great review! Very well balanced and sounds fair

  8. Still think that looks like the Alfa Romeo

  9. Like I've said, it only looks good in certain colors. Like the grey, black, and any other dark color. The front grill only works on certain cars of this new design. The base models look like pooh.

  10. It's a shame, I love manuals and the dct was great because it still gave you that sharp instant power feel of a clutch. I've always hated the slushy softness of torque converters and I hate to see that the dual clutch is dying before it can really even establish a long history.

But it's cool to see that they are bring the manual back a little too, almost as if they know the new auto will ne disappointing for a drivers car.

  11. I was surprised how much your seat was moving while you was flooring it

  12. They say taste is subjective. But that’s false. There’s true beauty. We are human. Our sense of beauty isn’t random. The previous generation came close to true beauty. The current generation has looks like dog shit in comparison.

  13. So the Basic model M3 comes only with a manual transmission. The M3 Competition only comes with an automatic transmission. I would definitely take the manual M3 over the competition.

  14. Very good 🌹❤️

  15. I don’t know i quite like it

  16. So glad i odered a Manual 😉

  17. Il sait conduire notre ami Harris 👍😊

  18. I still not big fan of that front; two years back when I bought my 740 I took the pre-lci over the faceleft one. And if I ever plan to buy the m3 I'll take that face for a smile reduction surgery…. thanks mighty CH

  19. To me it looks like a chinese M3 rip off

  20. Let's face it: the 2015 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is a far better looking car than the 2021 M3…

  21. M3 has lost everything that made it a different machine. And it is simply ugly.

  22. Wish Chris Harris had a show of his own, I'd watch Chris Harris on cars everyday, while Top Gear is too teen oriented atm, doesn't feel like a car enthusiast show.

  23. Chris always rocks!

  24. I love how he controlles the car

  25. What a driving legend you are Chris.

  26. Sorry, it's great that it mostly drives well, but I just can't bu a car that's this pig ugly. The AMG C63 has a better engine, a decent interior and drives just about as well. And, if you don't care about the back seat, than you have the Corvette C8, the Porsche Cayman,, the Ford Mustang GT500 and many other options in this price range. If you simply must have a BMW, than an M2 is better looking and drives as well or better, and it's cheaper to boot. I'm sure that BMW will sell a bunch of them–they sold E60 M5's and the original Z4 despite their styling–but I wouldn't choose one.

  27. Chris Harris is a legend if you only know him from topgear look at his older stuff on YouTube
If anyone was to replace Jeremy he was the right choice not sure about the rest though 🤔

  28. Very good Chris.. Nice Video. Thanks for the Details in Handling Steering and Gearbox 👌🏼👌🏼 It's a big shame they gone to Automatic instead of DCT. Personally for me there is nothing better then DCT or PDK. I don't know what's going on there at BMW M. And by the way.. F** Electric.. I hate it man. I will never buy this shit. I don't care if the Electric Cars will be even Faster at the Traffic Lights and so on. I don't give a shit about Teslas and so on. For those who want it, fine, they should have it. The climate will be much cleaner already by then. But don't Force the Passionate to drive this shit too. I will NOT cooperate with the Gouverment. Keep on driving combustion Engines!

  29. My god, it's hideous.

  30. I don't understand that front grille…

  31. That's an Alfa Romeo, not BMW.

  32. Top gear quality going down like COVID numbers

Being mean aside, For me, TG needs to do more to stand out from all the other car content on YouTube. It is starting to feel outdated and the takes on new cars feel stale and out of touch. It should be the gold standard but in my opinion the content is lagging behind compared to autotrader, carwow, donut and even smaller channels like JayEmm. This is all my own personal opinion but I’m voicing it because I’m a lifelong top gear fan and I want it to be as good as possible.

  33. It looks a little like someone tried to make it look like a 71 Pontiac GTO
