Hyundai Ioniq 5 review: 300bhp dual-motor Tesla rival tested | Top Gear

The Ioniq 5 might look like a 1980s hot hatch mixed with a dash of concept car and a splash of DeLorean, but what we have here is Hyundai’s first completely bespoke EV. Target? Sideswipe Tesla, mug the VW ID family, and start the Ioniq EV family on the path to world domination. Muahaha. How? Well, let TopGear.com’s Ollie Kew explain…Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGearWATCH MORE TOP GEAR: Top Gear Series 29: http://bit.ly/TGS29 Geneva Online Motor Show: http://bit. ly/TGGMS20 First Look: http://bit.ly/TG-FirstLookMORE ABOUT TOP GEAR: Want to watch a bit of Top Gear on the internet? 1. getting vw golf vibes from the exterior at least front for me.

  2. Yawnnnnn get Chris to review cars. All the other presenters are boring and annoying

  3. Will you still get the same range if you drive it hard ?

  4. I think this is the most beautiful electric city car ever well done Hyundai 🔥

  5. 1:14 those doors are not quite lined up!

  6. Stupid title, Telsa is junk, is this car junk, too?

  7. It's a nice idea to sell excess power back to National Grid but probably not realistic for any substantial saving, and probably impractical at this time because infrastructure in many countries must be upgraded in order to handle the different levels of voltages that are imported from home devices (which causes instability in the network thus more risk of outages).

  8. Great review, this guy is made for this platform.

  9. When the newer EVs from Korea come into America, the manufacturers need to clamp down on these trashy dealers that are price gouging customers. Or just start selling direct to consumer like it should be.

  10. I never understand why 75% of a car review video should show the person's face, instead of the car.

  11. No comment about the Hyundai charging network? That's O.K. You can use Tesla's…. NOT !

  12. Can't wait for matt from carwow to unnecessarily criticize this car's design.

  13. The wheels are great, the headlights are great, this is a good looking car. BUT the camera shutter looking lines on the fender guard/cladding need to be removed. Just keep it simple.

  14. Pretty cool but does every EV have to be a fricken crossover. Just make GT-86E or MEata manufacturers!

  15. That guy needs a girlfriend with a fashion sense.

  16. What I can say. its design just beats out others on the market. This is by far most futuristic design I've ever seen! Awesome Hyundai!

  17. It looks very Cyberpunk. I like it.

  18. Did they model this after roblox and minecraft?

  19. Looks like a modernized MG Maestro

  20. The Koreans ain't playing around. The Ioniq be no joke

  21. Somebody make a ID3 priced Ev that is fun, entertaining, theater. All the cars in that price range are just dull, like eating aspirin and saying the flavour is nice. Cmon, there is soooo much potential in EVs with UNlimited torque. <3

  22. Nobody:
    Subtitles: High-end eye

  23. Lovin your work sir. Great review again.

  24. no, I do not want own a Hyundai…I want a Tesla

  25. no range ? instant dislike

  26. Tesla revolutionized the electric industry….
    Tesla is best…

  27. The price is a deal killer. no offence but i'm not gonna drop $50k on a hyundai.

  28. Just to inject a bit of balance, let’s not forget that currently only 5% of EV batteries are recycled (source: University of Birmingham 2021) so 95% go to landfill. So before purchasing one, be sure you’re happy to trade a blistering 0-60mpg figure for an ecological tragedy your grandkids will have to deal with.

  29. It needs a red sweeping light in the grill and it shall be known as Cylon (Battlestar Galactica) … looks proper retro 👍👍👍

  30. 7:49 That's actually a bonus for people living in east coast USA where hurricanes are common. The car can act as a generator when the power is out.

  31. In all Hyundai/Kia EVs the regen + paddle can brake the car slowly if you stay pressing it until you are at a full stop.

  32. Hyundai managed to make a design that is extremely unique and unlike anything else on the market, yet the design is not at all controversial. How they managed this, I don’t understand, but I congratulate them with it

  33. I do wish reviewers would stop banging on about public charging infrastructure: it's FINE. I live in the North Yorkshire Dales. I have more than a dozen 50kw rapid chargers within 15 miles of my house.

    Give. It. A. Rest.

  34. Beautiful modern styling but I'm not a fan of that huge diagonal dent down the side!

  35. How good will it look in black !!

  36. Why do these TG presenters look like they’re walking on tip toes almost falling forward 🤷🏻‍♂️

  37. RJVX12 algorithm is my choice, i dont worry about BTC rates at all
